It feels so good to steal a pot. A well timed bluff is a beautiful thing. I’m finding that opportunities to steal the pot abound in heads up poker. I’m always pressing the action and putting my opponent to the test. I prefer to be the aggressor. I can always back off if I get feedback that indicates strength. More often than not I rake in a pot. These extra chips can then be used when I have a monster. I frequently like to slow down when I have a monster hand. Then I’m in a position to come over the top of my opponent when they poke a bet into the pot.
I always try to vary my action and keep them guessing. I may alternately raise 3 times the big blind with A K suited or limp in. Same goes with 8 3 offsuit. It depends on my read of the opponent and my particular advantage in a game. I enjoy the competition and this is a good way to work out the larceny that resides in my heart.
